Humphrey Carver (1902) was born in Birmingham, England. Architect, community planner, and author. Educated in England. Active in Canada from 1930. Organized the 1939 Housing Conference. Chaired the Research Committee, 1948-1955, and Advisory Group, 1955-1967, Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation. The AIUS was established in 1967 with divisions in each state and territory. The function of the AIUS was to promote research and study into urban and regional development and to act as a lobby group. Concerns included housing, transport, energy conservation, social welfare and resource development.
